Postdoc Researcher - Task planning and learning for robotized recycling tasks

The "Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (IRI), CSIC-UPC" is seeking a highly motivated applicant with a keen interest in doing research in automated planning and cognitive science applied to real robotic problems in the framework of the IMAGINE project. The postdoc will be supervised by Dr. Guillem Alenyà and Prof. Carme Torras.

The position is linked to IMAGINE, a European project which seeks to enable robots to understand the structure of their environment and how it is affected by their actions. "Understanding" here means the ability of the robot (a) to determine the applicability of an action along with parameters to achieve the desired effect, and (b) to discern to what extent an action succeeded, and to infer possible causes of failure and generate recovery actions. This scientific objective is pursued in the context of recycling of electromechanical appliances.

The postdoc will be incorporated into the Perception and Manipulation Group of IRI. S/he will be hired through a 2-year postdoctoral contract with a salary in the range of 27000 to 35000 € gross per year, depending on experience and skills. The incorporation will be take place as soon as possible. "
